Royal Academy of Dance Exams
On Saturday 24th June some of Bell Ballet's pupils took part in Royal Academy of Dance examinations and class awards.
For some younger pupils it was their first experience of participating in an exam as they were entered for the Primary in Dance award. There was a mixture of excitement and nerves as candidates prepared their hair and numbers, but after last minute changes to the timetable, a barre that had to be fixed and a battery that had to be replaced in a beeping smoke alarm, the resounding emotions were of relief and pride!
Well done to all those involved and thank you for all your hard work.

At our annual ballet fair on Saturday 10th February 2018 (10.00-13.00 with displays at 10.30 & 12.00), friends and family are invited to watch pupils display their weekly class work, as well as enjoy a refreshment! All proceeds from entrance fees (£2 for adults, £1 for children upto 16 and over 60s, under 2s free) will go towards costumes for our next stage production.
For an exciting change, pupils in grade one and over are invited to take part in the choreography showcase, where by they can work as a solo or in groups of 2,3 or 4 to create a dance between 1.5-2 minutes long.
During the last week of the Autumn term, pupils in these grades were given tips and advice on how to create a motif (a short sequence of steps that can then be jumped, turned or performed at a different tempo), create patterns within their group and in the floor space, use different levels and use canon within a group. They now have until our ballet fair in February to work on their pieces and find costumes and props if they wish.
Pupils also listened to different pieces of music to inspire their creativity and encourage them to think about how it made them feel or what character they might be.
Good luck with your choreographies and we look forward to seeing them performed at the ballet fair!!
Ballet Fair Success!
Emotions ran high on Saturday 10th February as friends and family gathered together to see Bell Ballet pupils perform at the Catholic Church Hall in Stubbington. Pride and joy were felt as the audience enjoyed the hard work and talent of the pupils coming together, evident by the beaming smiles and 'Mrs Bell's happy tears'.
The choreography showcse, in particular, was a huge successa nd thanks and praise must go to those puils involved and their mums and dads who clearly put a lot of effort into the costuming and props.
We raised £360 from entrance fees to go towards costumes for our next production, 'Sleeping Beauty Snippets' in December- Official announcement coming soon!!!!
Thanks also to those who helped out on the day, Dancewear of Fareham who had a stall and to Martin Bell Photography for capturing some beautiful moments and precious memories.
